Morning, we head north for Songpan County (elev 2,867 m) in Aba Tibetan and Qiang Autonomous Prefecture. As we drive past the city, the landscaper starts to look notably more mountainous and rural, almost seems Alpine, were it not for the colourful prayer flags. You are reminded that this is not Switzerland but Tibetan Plateau. After check in and fresh up, we will go explore Songpan Ancient Town, built during Tang Dynasty and it was later rebuilt during Ming Dynasty, once an important military post and economic and trading center for horse and tea exchange between Sichuan, Gansu, Qinghai and Tibet.

Morning, drive about 1hr to Huanglong National Scenic Reserve (elev 3,300 m). With elevation taking into consideration, and to save and balance your strength, we will take cable car up then hike our way down. Huanglong, literally Yellow Dragon in Mandarin, is famous for its travertine landscape and colourful calcite pools, similar to the ones in Pamukkale of Turkey. Most renowned of which is the Five Colour Pond. Afterwards, we drive about 2hrs to Jiuzhaigou County (elev 1,400 m) to spend the night.

Full day sightseeing at Jiuzhaigou National Park. Its superb landscapes are particularly interesting for their series of narrow conic karst land forms and spectacular waterfalls.
