Early morning, head for Chengdu Panda Base, short for Giant Panda Breeding Research Base, its enclosures are large and well maintained, home to nearly 120 giant and 76 red pandas. The base focuses on getting these shy creatures to breed. Which means…here the drum roll…you will see baby pandas here! March to May is the ‘falling in love period’ (wink wink). If you visit in autumn or winter, you may see tiny newborns in the nursery.

Visit & have lunch at Jinli Ancient Street, which was recorded as early as the Qin Dynasty. Try out local snacks for lunch and have your coffee or tea here.

After lunch, visit Wangjianglou Park to take photos of locals playing mahjong, and the Wangjiang Pavilion, which was built to honour Xue Tao, the most outstanding female intellectual of Sichuan in Tang Dynasty. Climb up of Wangjiang Pavilion to shoot the Jinjiang River, also called Funan River. The park is also known for its bamboo.
